That's before $125 shipping fee. So I'm not sure what this pricing is. Maybe it was just those dealers he called. Can you negotiate down on these? I'm guessing you maybe can?

Only talked to one dealer so far.
That price was shipping, tax, the whole shebang.

Dave, was that the Ashford or the Chinook 30? I believe he was talking the Chinook 30. Which in NH would be much cheaper to buy than in Mass, as no sales tax in NH. I think it's 6% in Ma these days. I avoid it as much as possible being on the NH border.

Ok, the 3400 was the Ashford OTD.
    I'm so confuzzled.

..and I would think the Ashford would be more, not less, just because it's basically a Princess in a prettier package isn't it?

Road Trip tomorrow morning! Going up to Lebanon to visit the Woodstock Soapstone facility and bring back a Progress Hybrid for my down the street neighbor. I'm excited about his purchase, but a little concerned about his wood supply and the install just because I haven't seen his wood supply or current installation. I do know that he has an inside chimney with 6 inch insulated SS liner.

He's got a lot of Sq feet to heat but he says things like "oh, I just want to keep the family room warm" ...but I know that will turn into 24X7 whole house heating once he realizes the potential.

Oh it'll be a great day! If I sounded a little negative it's just that I spend too much time here and see all the things that can go wrong. As basic as burning appears on the surface, there are a lot of things that need to come together for a successful heating season.

If you were coming up on a weekend I was going to give you an invite to see the new stove out in the wild (15 minutes off-route for you). If you head to Okemo this winter, send me a note (20 seconds off-route on that trip). I91 was pretty packed in snow this evening. Expecting another inch and 9 degrees tonight.

I ski Okemo frequently in the winter. Maybe I can set it up to stop by on a week-end and visit.

Thanks for the info on Rt91 I'm hoping the crews will get it under control tonight. Still snowing here and a solid 8' fluffy stuff on top ofthe 8 we got this week-end.

I saw some ski talk on another thread, and the Okemo connection stuck in my mind. Our kids skied at Okemo as part of the school's program, and my wife would get free passes for us by volunteering to help the kids.

About 4-5" in Brattleboro at 5pm, but just 3-4" up here. The state plowed Rt 103, but the town is leaving their roads until early morning. Should improve as you come north, and should be quite pretty. It was -18 this morning, but a balmy +9 tonight.

There is now officially a new WS Progress Hybrid in my neighborhood. Pics shortly, but it isn't installed yet. We took longer than usual to get up there due to the 8 inch snowfall the night before that state plow crews didn't clear the secondary roads till this AM so the snow was hard packed and slippery as the sun hit us before we got to 91N in Brattleboro. From there it was clear sailing and wegot back about 4:30PM. The old stove was moved off the hearth and the new Progress was positioned in place in front of the where it will heat until the owner (another Steve) decides how to finally finish off the hearth area. He is talking about some major mods mods. In any event it was a pretty successful day. The stove is still sitting on the pallet and he is reading the owners manual tonight.

I thought I remember Charlie posting someplace about his install and some helpful hints about getting it off the pallet so I'll go try to find that in a bit. I'll process some of the pics I took today and post them here shortly. First I need to have dinner. It was fun!:)
