Already in the planning stages. Next time I have to move wood into the house should free up some plastic pallets. Any additions are going to have to wait until the spring thaw though
Looking good, but, I think you need a little more experience. As luck has it, I have a backyard you could practice with.
at the time I didn’t realize just how accurate my reply was. This thing seemed huge when I was laying it out and just getting started on it. Now I can see that it’s not even going to hold everything I have that’s needing processed.
From left to right: elm from Step sons elm and have enough left to process to fill it out. Small bay without much in it is from the same score, nice clean smaller splits for potential bundles. Next is another bay of elm, mostly standing dead, from various sources. Hackberry is next from Hired on to help with a tree Small bay is fine split mulberry in the back and potential bundles in front, elm mostly. And far right is hackberry also out of the Step sons elm thread
I can and probably will add on to the left end. Can go another 20 feet easy, maybe even 30 without difficulty. I sure would like to get some more of the same type of plastic pallets.
Looks great with the wood in it. So true, never enough storage. We're gonna have to build more sheds and probably just split into piles on pallets to get everything processed...and it still keeps coming in...lol
You may need to sit down and say, “I want XXX cord under shelter…” take that amount and multiply by 32 (cord foot print of 4x8) and build that much footprint for covered. For me, that would be a monster warehouse to hold 200-300 cord. what do you want protected? 10 cord is 320 SF or 16’X20’. it looks awesome what you’ve got there.
You cut and make a lot of firewood Jeff. I can sympathize on the storage issue. Building another lean to shed next door to storage for mostly bundle wood. It will be 20'x8' and hold six cords. PITA to get wood in and out but it is what it is. Im taking several trees down for him and most will end up in there.
I don't have as much wood on hand as most of you guys, but when I was planning my shed build, my brother told me, "No matter how big you make it, it won't be big enough". He was right.
