It was a Mitsubishi, motor tranny and chassis, sold as a Dodge or Plymouth. Datsun wasn't part of that, and was long gone before these arrived.

Mitsubishi made a lot of great compact cars for Dodge, Plymouth. Some were made in Normal Illinois, some in Japan.

That's the only feature I'm missing on my Super Duty- a heated steering wheel. That is a heavenly luxury in the winter! However, I got seats that have heat...And Air Conditioning- now in the summer my butt says "bring it on!"

Thats it!! all the above plus imported by Plymouth!! And LOL, it was all spelled out on the hatchback:rofl:

And yes, that lil wagon was a good one, and the odd 4x4 was also interesting and cool! (FWD, engaged rear axle).

Horkn you are right again! must haves.. cold weather package.. heated seats, steering wheel mirrors and good defogger.. so when ya breath ice doesn't form on windows!

and a vehicle that can go fast safely.. I often have to go to Montreal airports.. You need to go from a stop to highway speeds in about 150 yard s that usually has a 270 degree turn in it too merge safely

We just got a 2017 XLT Sport Supercrew with the V8 and 6.5' box. Gets better gas mileage than our V8 explorer ever did:). Very capable truck with some nice amenities.

I don't think it would be possible to go wrong with any truck in this class but we have always liked Our Fords and this was the best deal. My brother in law just got a Ram 1500 and it's great as well.

I haven't set up the trailer assist yet but I hear good things about it. I am fine to backup a trailer but this will help my wife if she wants to use it when I am at work. If you get the tow package it comes with it.

Good luck in your hunt and I am sure you will be happy no matter what you pick.

You are right on the money regarding slow speed maneuvering in tight spots. You need to real think ahead of time in a gas station when pulling a trailer. As far as parking, just park further away and walk.

The worst is when I finally found 2 empty parking spots together came in at the tightest angle I could, then back up to straighten out and some lil rice burner would pull in while I was in reverse, pretty common in Colorado (population explosion, can be every single spot taken even in an entire parking lot. :picard:

Datsun hasn't gone anywhere. These days they call them Nissans.

Close, but not quite. ;) Nissan owned Datsun. Nissan killed the Datsun name in 1986. I didn't see, or know that Datsun was actually coming back in emerging markets.

I'd be interested in hearing more about getting those prices marked down. I'd really like to get a new truck next year, but I can't see spending that kinda of dough on a new truck. My first and only new truck was four years after college, was my graduation gift to myself. And it costed my $29 and some change, for a full size truck.

Ok, I took a loaded 17 f150 screw 4x4 lariat with the 3.5 ecoboost and 10 SPD auto out. I'm very impressed. Even new with 100 miles on it it's no slouch, but then again it's 375 hp and 470 tq.

    Here's the sticker with options.
    IMG_20170608_184503256.jpg
Heated and cooled seats, mega sunroof, leather, bedliner, all that stuff. It was black, so that's a no go, but this was for test purposes only. The guy said that Ford already stopped model year 17 production and are already starting to build 18's.

The guy printed me up the build/ order sheets for the 17 and 18's.

Ford also detailed bundling options to save $. That's nice for those that want to buy a loaded or fairly loaded one. Like me.

I was a little bummed to see the 2nd gen 3.5 ecoboost had a spin on oil filter, where the 2.7 ecoboost has a cartridge style oil filter on top like my Audi. None the less, it was easy enough to get to the oil filter, and oil changes look to be a snap.

Just when Ford had me kinda excited about the 5.0L/10spd...... they go and put that Bob the Builder grille on the front of the 2018s. Why In Henry's name.......

Ok, maybe not every version is so bad. Might be growing on me. A little.

I prefer the 2018s headlights to the current ones. There's 7 different grilles for 18.

The second one you listed I think is the Platinum, or limited.

Ford's only letting bits and pieces out for info and pics so far. The only info regarding the motors is limited. There will be more power from the 5.0, added to the 10 SPD.

More power for the 2.7 ecoboost with 10 spd, the 3.5 ecoboost with 10 SPD carry over from 17, what I drove today. Then there's the diesel w 10 SPD, and 3.3 v6 ( 6 SPD)with supposedly the same HP and tq as the 3.5 non ecoboost that is the base engine now. The new 5.0 will still be a flex fuel motor as it is now. That's intriguing as I can get e85 for 1.65 a gallon, vs 2.29 a gallon for e10.

:popcorn:So is your goal a new '17 hoping for further price reduction should you locate the color you want of course with all the options? Again, get everything you want my friend. You research things just like me when you're on a quest. Don't settle! Man the black one was sure decked out...I wouldn't go with that color either,,,very beautiful but a struggle to keep detailed from day 1...keep us posted

Maybe if you ran premium fuel the cost of fuel e85 would offset. Imo It's not worth running e85. The range reduction is what's most annoying.

With the sales slump and Ford's warning of good size profit loss's I'd wait for the end of summer or until the '18s come out.

Yup, had a black Mustang once upon a time...I said never again! (the black, not the 'stang ;))
Had a flexfuel Taurus once too...around here E85 is only $0.05-0.10 cheaper than 87 octane...with a 20% reduction in fuel economy its totally not worth it...plus the whole false economy of E85 anyways...not a fan.

I'm so picky that even if I wanted a 17, unless they gave me a lot of options I won't pay for, that there probably wouldn't be the exact truck I'd want. Ford's bundling thing for 18 really builds in a lot of the stuff I want, at a price I'd pay.

Here, e85 is 1.65 a gallon, regular is 2.29. at that rate, even if it's 20% less mpg with e85, it's money ahead with e85. You do get more hp with e85 though. ;)
