Yes, this ^ ^ ^. Crisp and quick I always hated the way the old 3 speed autos shifted from the factory...all of them.
I believe the soft shifts are from defueling of the engine to relieve stresses on other components not the trans itself.
I typically have a negative connotation when I hear the word "Cheap". Lower cost sells, but cheap is not good.
Yes, this is the truck thread. There's another thread about the diesels somewhere. I think I smell it just around the corner.
FYI, here's my new (2016) Ram 1500. The price was right, for sure. I really like the ride (coils in the rear) and Hemi 5.7 and the looks . So far it's working out great for us. We will have to see how it holds up over time. I've got still got 1.5 yr "Maximum Care Warranty" and 4 yr/100K powertrain warranty. In a year or so, if I like it, I'll keep it, but if it is questionable, I'll trade up to a new truck.
Those front air dams are the first thing to go on a woods truck. Mine on my work truck lasted about 6 months before a washed out low water crossing made the front drop down deeper than expected and face planted that low rider ground effects BS on the front. I ripped the other half off. Looks better without it anyway.
So.... I traded in my 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 27K miles because the frame rusted completely out - wouldn't pass the annual PA safety inspection. I had several local mechanics look at it and they were unanimous that the frame rust was "the worst they'd ever seen." That said, the bed, cab and all the rest of the body was immaculate, no rust what-so-ever. Go figure!!!
I see trucks all the time where the frame is very rusty and the body looks good, or maybe a few rust blisters. Then some may rusted rockers or cab corners and people think they can fix that and are good to go, but most of the time the frame is in bad shape. The worst rust I've seen was on a 97 F-250. It only had rust above the left wheel well. The trailer hitch was about rust out of it, crossmembers were rusted out of it, and the nut on both upper ball joints was almost rusted away. One of the first things that usally goes on a vehicle is the brake lines. I think when the brake lines need replaced it is time to unload the vehicle. Usually at that time they are still are in decent shape were you can get a good price, but are only a couple years or so from being ru I tell people to go through a touchless car wash and get the wash that does rusted up.e undercarriage. I see you are in PA, some Sheetz have a nice car wash.
