Asplundh has been going nuts cutting in my home town...REAL close to home. Ive been having a field day cutting and hoarding. C'mon over as there some nice red oak nearby. Plenty to go around! Is there a weight limit on the LI ferry???

    Welcome aboard!

I like your thinking with people, this is the exact reason my wife and I are moving out of dodge when I retire.

I want to hoard but running out of space. Me and Stoveaclause have cords and cords of wood at our disposal but nowhere to store it. We have 6 cords of rounds drying over a year at a buddies house we need to get to and all the wood you could ever want coming...........but no space

A0812D84-CA55-47E3-97FC-597DBA476E46.jpeg Check out these oak rounds in the first picture. Hand split them with a few buddies including Stoveaclause. Got a cord and a half of prime wood.

That is a dilemma i face as well...sort of. I have nine cords at a friends house stacked in the woods of his front yard. I give him an annual "rent" payment of a cord of cut rounds. Building a lean to shed for him as well.

some nice red oak rounds and it looks like no knots! Good chunk of metal in there somewhere. (purplish stain) Nice hand splitting stuff. What is your "weapon" of choice? I use a Fiskars X27 and a Collins axe.

Standard ten pound maul on the big stuff. Guy who owns tree service dropped them off at buddies house. HE THANKED ME!!! I said only bring me the pieces with no knots. I think we gave him $40. He wanted nothing

I’m lucky that I can be picky. I will not hoard anything with knots

Former LI North Shore fella here... Wading River.
Might be paying a visit to Shoreham and WR next summer to visit some remaining family up there, and to walk down nostalgia lane.... maybe a LI FHC GTG....:yes:

for the most part i am picky too. I like "pretty" splits. Ill noodle knotty logs in most cases if i cant split them "easily". That red oak should be a breeze despite the size.
