I’ve been upstate a few times, and I got to say it’s gorgeous. I’ve been to New York City a lot of times and that ain’t so gorgeous.

IMHO, it CAN hurt to try out that plumbing if you are not extremely careful. I would caution against trying to run it as a closed system without a mass to use as a heat dump. You could over fire it and end up with a steam explosion. You could avoid excessive creosote buildup on the pipes by having a tempering valve to keep the water hot inside the stove. But would also probably need a way or two to relieve excess pressure that could build up. Heating a hot tub or other thermal mass might be a good use for the stove. Then you could circulate the water from the thermal mass through the baseboard. Let us know what you decide to do!!

Welcome Fred. Handshake to you. You’ll find good advice here from knowledgeable folks. Heck the jokes they tell are worth the price of admission.

I believe it is! (Although) there is somebody on here much more qualified to answer than I. I've had many Fishers, and burn a Grandma currently, she's been in here since 1980. I still have 3 more here. I've never seen a set up like that (from a builder). Coaly may have but I haven't. The Fisher Guru will come along and answer for sure. I very familiar with the Fisher line and have owned them since 1976. My next question is WHY would someone do that to a bicentennial edition. :( That stove is a collectable of sorts.
I own a Grandma 76 edition. Well, at any rate, Welcome to the forums Fred!!! :handshake: Nice to have you here. Looks like you have some FUN stuff in your shop! ;)

SpeedShop64, I have seen people run a constant circulation water system through the stoves before. It has to be connected with a pump and thermostat of a constant temp with an expansion tank. I was an HP/pressure boiler welder in the USN so you have to have a relief system as well. If your plans of wood stove use is just that, then I would cut out the piping and plug the holes. Should be an easy fix. If your plans of use as a water heater for home piping or such, Please do your research. Steam is a big BOOM! and very dangerous. By your expertise, you're obviously very mechanical so just a friendly word of caution there. :handshake::)
