She's a lot of fun to run for sure! But, the 346xp oe you did for me is the most fun of the bunch . It's a whole different saw than the one that left this place for Tennessee !

Nixon. Your killing me. That's an awesome shop and awesome 395! Making me regret getting rid of mine. :)

    You coming to the GTG?

There is a GTG in Canton Ohio at Swags place May 17th? I know it's a long ways, but should be a good time. You'll get to meet, a bunch of members, the Site Admin, and all the Mods.

Your showroom is one of the nicest around. I still need a 16" bar for a 2253/550xp. What is the sexiest bar you have? PM the price and send it (and a 3/8" rim sproket)
I made some stepping "boards" for a island garden here at home.

But for the most part? I burn them? This was 10 min ago.

I'll do my best to be there . Is there a post here with details about the GTG? If there is, I've likely let it drop through the memory hole . I seem to have contracted CRS as well as PCAD recently !
Thanks for the compliment , It's my inner sanctum. I don't have a radio ,or any other distactions when I go down there to tinker. Just me and Forest ,my Black Lab . The two other Labs ,and Dachschund could care less about saws . They're just strange ! ;)
I even got that plate mounted on the case of the 395 . :) It's actually fairly easy to handle with the 28" tech lite bar . With the 36" .... Not so much . But then again, I won't need it all that often hopefully.

    IMPRESSIVE!

Quick question from a saw newbie! I have an Echo CS-400 with an 18" bar on it. Can I simply buy a longer bar and chain for it, and swap them out when I wish? Or is there more to it.....?

My inner smart guy wants to say " to cover the two tapped holes in the case " .
My understanding is that it's a reinforcement/ brace for the case for those saws using long bars like is common out west. To tell the truth ,my reason was closer to the smart guy answer. I saw the tapped holes on Dex's ,and my saw and had to find out what went there . What's got me going right now is there are two tapped holes on either side of the case towards the rear of the saw ........ Gotta find out why they are there .

I noticed that plate, before I sold mine, I looked into getting one. I think you gave me the part number? IIRC

As long as you use the same pitch chain, ( .325 , .375 ,etc) you should be okay . I'm not familiar with Echo saws , so I'm assuming your saw is in the 40cc range ,and runs .325 (3/16ths ) pitch chain. If you do go with a longer bar ,it would probably be wise to use it only for occasional use ,and let the saw feed itself ( don't lean on it ) . Your limiting factors are power and chain oiler .
Bear in mind, this is just my opinion . Others may have a better perspective .

Thanks for the link ! I looked for it ,and missed it completely.
As for the weight of the saw..... I'm not about to weigh it . I would just start thinking about how heavy it is when using it if I knew . I'll be using the 36" bar on stuff that's down , so whatever it weighs will work in my favor .
If I ever need it to drop a tree, I'll get my BIL to do it. He's built like a fridge with a head on it. "Strong like Bull.... Dumb like Ox !" . JK , He's a good guy ,and a lot younger and stronger .

You isn't going to get a 40cc Echo to pull much more bar. Kinda like you can hook a bigger trailer to your truck but unless you got 'nuff motor it ain't gonna do no good.

Gotcha.... thanks .... But Nixon hit it on the nose, it would just be for the occasional longer cut. Every now and then I get a 25 or 30" trunk to cut, and I'm TERRIBLE at lining up the cuts from the other side... Would just be nice those few times to have a longer bar.

Adjust your technique. Overbucking is your friend.

*sigh* so many videos I need to do, so little time.

"Technique"? You kidding me? My "technique" is more of a HACK-ique! Hack at the wood until it breaks apart! Trustme, there's no technique involved!

    That's why I like my 25 & 30 yr old 288XPW & 2100CD......That 7th mount is a great stabilizer for longer bars,also helps with the anti-vibes too...
