I always wanted to try a bow bar. Would like to put one on one of my 460 Stihls see what they are all about.
They were the real deal for cutting smaller trees on the ground. That's what the ol' timers used cutting short length pulp wood. Cut thru the tree and didn't bind as bad...
Tried out the 8 pin sprocket today. Really zips thru the smaller wood. Even did well in some big wood with a knot. Full 28" buried. And it's mean when noodling 18" long rounds
No sir, it's not ported... I have only done 2 things to it myself. I bought a dual port muffler off eBay... Factory muffler New muffler And a few months ago, I added the Maxflow filter system... Those 2 things really woke it up...
Nice! Missed the saw purchase. Congrats on the new member to the family. You are going to love it. Ive never owned a lite weight bar other then the 12" one that came on my 201 top handle (12") If my cutting sessions were longer id consider one. How much did it reduce the eight?
UPS came late Brad. Because of that, I was planning on swapping the bars in the AM but about 8 o'clock, I had an itch to head to the barn. It was a hair chilly to bring the scale but I'll check tomorrow when I head out to give it a test run....
It's a hair lighter than the Stihl 16" bar that could have come with it but I didn't buy mine with a bar so I wasn't trying to pick up that last oz of improvement. I bought it power head only and wanted to try something different for a bar. Just having fun here really as I didn't need another saw. But since I was buying it, I wanted to play around with options a little. Hence the 3/8" sprocket... I can tell you it's a boatload lighter than the 20" ES I borrowed off my 500i when it first came home....
