No PPE! :picard: Although admittedly it took me a long time to notice!

If I was cutting softwoods I would agree, but some of this maple and oak is hard, especially when it is on the dryer side.

Anyone here have the issue of very hard starting an mtronic saw after running it out of fuel? I was reading that's a common issue with these and you really need to watch your fuel to avoid the frustration. I'm all about the Husky primer bulb and like that the 500i has it. Wish they had it on all their rigs....

Wow would have never guessed this would be such a controversial topic! I mean .325, 3/8, 7 vs 8 pin, 16", 18", 20" bar......I dont think i could notice a difference in any of these combinations unless the bar was completely buried in wood and i had a stopwatch. And lets be honest, if i am bucking up something that has 20" rounds, i am grabbing the 441 anyways lol. Just keep it out of the dirt and keep your chain sharp and you should be good to go.

Only had it happen once on my 462. I usually don't run it to the bottom but did. From what I have read you should stop as soon as the saw sputters. No problems with any of my moronic saws since that 1 time.

Thanks Steve. I was reading comparison threads between the ms261 c-m and the 550xp mark ii on other sites and that came up. They seem pretty equal but the Husky version would be about $135 cheaper…

First ive heard of this issue. I have three Mtonic...500i & both 201's. Cant say ive had an issue with that. The 201 rear handle has a primer bulb, but oddly the top handle doesnt. Most of the time i top the fuel off before cutting.

Yeah that must be an internet thing, because I’ve run a 201tc out of gas more times than I can remember and never had a restart issue. With the bigger cm saws I can hear the filter clicking around in the tank when it’s getting close to empty and I refill.

I went to 3/8" x 50 on my 261, when I bought a 20" lightweight bar for it. And I am running full skip chain on it. I can't remember right now if I am running square file or round file on it. I am not saying that's the way to go at all, but I like it fine. Maybe if I had another one with set up different and run them side by side, I could tell a difference, but I don't really care that much. It cuts fine for me.

I was considering the same at the beginning of this. I figured if I changed the sprocket, I could run the 20" bar and chain from my 500i on a 261. It would save me a few bucks and leave the 28" work to the 500.

Dealer told me it would match up ok but recommended against it. From what I read online, others have run a 3/8" 20 bar on a 261 and most were ok with it if not buried...

There are lots of guys out there with 3/8 18's and 20's on 261's. It's just not ideal.

Yup got 18” and 20” .50 on 15 year old 260 pro (adj oiler). Ideal for me, like to limb without bending over as much.. why I asked your height. Dealer said 20” not recommended But I like it
