Most things like that are sharp when you get them but they are ground sharp and not truly sharp. If you hone them polish them up they will cut faster and stay sharper longer. Just be sure to keep the original angle and don't round over the edge
Oh by the way nice job, those things are cool and when the holidays are over you just throw me in the stove and burn them
Mine are gonna season for a couple years My tenon cutter was a bush hatchet my sister gave me a few years ago - sharp as they come, doubles as a good skinning blade, and cuts deer tendons/knuckles with ease
This is a walking stick I started a while back, it's nothing special but it's done. On the bottom the wife wanted a small nail or screw, I drilled a small hole an screwed in a deck screw which I took the bolt cutters to. I put two coats of stain with one coat of wax.
