Absolutely awesome pictures. Some of them reminds me of British Columbia. We don't get those awesome fall pictures though.

I was actually surprised that t he first 5 reasons weren't LOBSTAH!

Pretty soon I'll be doing my Clark Griswold impersonation. We leave Saturday morning for our annual family vacation. Last year was Acadia. This year it's a cabin on Moosehead Lake. Hopefully I'll have some nice Maine pics to share.

You been to Moosehead Dave? We have been to many, many places in Maine but never to Moosehead or Rangeley. We were torn between which one to visit this time around and chose Moosehead. We're staying in Rockwood. I can't wait to get some whoopie pies.

Two great choices if you ask me. I have family in Rockwood on Maynard Rd on the north side of the Moose River. Kineo is a fantastic hike! Watch for moose on 6 between Moosehead and Rockwood, there is a DOT lot somewhere along there, they like to hang out there.

I saw a hike called little Kineo that looked good. The ragamuffins are only for and five so we can't do anything to hardcore or somewhere along the way my four year old daughter will start crying "daddy my legs are too short," promptly plant her keister on the ground and wait for her mom or I to carry her.

That is the remains of old Fort Popham at the mouth of the Kennebec River: Fort Popham State Historic Site – Phippsburg, Maine
It is about 45 min. from here. We go there a lot. There is also an excellent state park next to it with beautiful beaches and tidal pools.

That one is good, but this one is much better: Fort Knox and Penobscot Narrows Observatory
The observatory closes near Halloween so go before that. I like to go when the foliage is turning. I can't do the fort anymore, but you and family can easily do it. bring your lunch and make a day of it.
