They belong to my cousins. One is a chocolate lab, the other some mix I think. I have the two labs seen in my avatar. Here is something you may like:
i will echo the others. nice pix. it has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. looks like our beholders are pretty equivalent. what's the use of living if you can't see the beauty. nay, great pix.
Oh yes, there were huge road crews clearing fallen trees. Most of what fell were limbs and trees that fell that had weak joints, rot, etc. my road, a dead end, was blocked by trees bent over and their tops frozen in the roadway. I don't know how much wood was available for scrounging. Big problem was just staying warm. I keep my freezer full and in an unheated glassed in porch. Didn't loose a thing!
Congrats on the catch of the day and the fish. Looks like a great lake and you should get a discount at cabelas!
On our walks in the morning, we can almost see the same plants growing - lupines, fireweed and wild peas - I think we call it fetch here. Just that our trees in the background would be alder, fir and cedar.
Our home is about a half mile or less from the kennebec river. This river, now clean up from being polluted, is home to some of the best fishing in the state. This is fresh water, but is tide water. It is fascinating to sit on the shore and watch the sturgeon jump. You can catch but must release all sturgeons. They are protected. This fish are huge. Some as large as a person. Smaller ones the size of a leg. I didn't take these pictures but they are recent.
Nice pics. My FIL and I go striper fishing in the Kennebec. Just south of BIW the river makes a couple of 90's, with the river flow toward the ocean and the tide pushing water back up the river it makes for some very strong currents in odd directions, the bait fish get trapped and the stripers have a feast.
I am familiar with that spot, years ago, I used to go blue fishing there. Fishing was so good, I got tired out reeling them in! Haven't seen any good run of blues for years. However that is a good area for stripers. Not many keepers up here in the Augusta Gardiner area. Things are changing from the dam having been removed. I don't know how far the sturgeon are going up river now. Easy to see them in our area.
I hear Striper is good for chowdah and wonder if it's good any other way? Reason I ask is neighbor just gave me several pounds of freshly caught Striper.. Ray
