I'll be picking up the threaded type muffler (I'll work on getting the broken off bolt out this spring) should I remove the carbon with a fine steel wool?

I would use some carb cleaner and or seafoam (it eats carbon) and a small brass brush like you use for guns .

Thanks clemsonfor , I have both so if it's the correct size it will be on before the end of the day tomorrow.

I just heard a boom, either Gasifier farted or the men from Fort Drum are kicking those planes into high gear.

Small wire brush would probably do the trick quite nicely. Being that it's usually just standard 1" pipe thread, you could get awful creative custom building your exhaust!

We picked up the muffler this afternoon at the Wood Chop Shop and then went to Sergi's for dinner, after that we went to a division 1 College Hockey game, SLU vs Colgate.

    SLU won.

I'm pretty sure this is the same muffler we bought locally for $19 plus tax.

    Should work well.

A brass brush with carb cleaner, or seafoam will work. Just thread ac little in at a time. If it binds, back the threads out and try again.

Don't be Gasifier , it won't go on because it lays right on top of the gas tank.

The new muffler interferes with the tank? Can it be offset with a couple pipe fittings?

I think so but for the rest of February the first muffler I bought is back on with the one post until I decide what I'll do.

The old didier splitter of my buddy's has a couple closed nipples, and a 45° elbow directing the exhaust down.
