the 52i isnt changing. The 35i is, but mostly cosmetically. All stoves have to meet 2020 EPA criterion by may. The 35i is the last one.

It means they have to meet certain exhaust criterion set forth by the EPA, and be physically labelled indicating thusly it does so. Most of the glorious Harmans already met those criterion, but weren't labelled thusly. After May, 2020, dealers cannot sell pellet and wood units which aren't labelled as meeting the 2020 standards.

Like I said, "That means they can't heat anymore."

It's the same thing. When uncle gets into the game nothing good comes of it.

not sure what "that means they cant heat anymore" actually means, but yes, I do agree that once you let the gummint in, nothing good does come from it, except for the functionaries who glean money from said act.....but, I once got in trouble at "another" site for saying something similar, and we certainly dont want to speak out against the fragile ego's of the establishment, lest they get their feelings hurt and triggered, so.......zip!

I heard after May 2020 any new stove that does not meet the EPA requirements no only cannot be sold but also cannot be given away for free! Correct?

It is simple LW, to meet the targets they won't be able to burn, thus no heat.

Harman stoves, yes I agree they already meet the specs except some air adjustments according to your area RSM.
However other brand pellet stoves are a different story. I heard the Enviro Empress is not being made anymore which maybe do to the manual damper rod.
Also one of the most popular stoves around, the 25-pdvc had to be changed because the 3 lower buttons can be changed by the user to not meet the new EPA specs. The 25-EPI because of the low volume sales will not be changed to meet the new specs right now because bringing up the other models takes up all the time right now. Since all the older production 25-EPI stoves have been sold same as the Napoleon Insert stoves, there are no insert stoves available right now in this price range!
