That punky outside makes a bit of a mess in the house, but I can't waste white oak. You have a very nice woods with nice mature trees. Looks like the perfect place to hang out during retirement. Wow some really nice looking piles. I don't think that tree got the memo about being cut and split before joining in. What did you use for roofing material?
Worry not about that pithy or punky on the outside of the oak. It happens to almost all oak but it won't do any harm and the wood is great.
