Hi Garry. To aid & abet the local std. addiction, we'll have to introduce you soon to two of the best chainsaw dealers in the NE. Husqy/Jonsereds 12 miles W of Kingston, and Makita/Dolmar/RedMax in Greenwich NY about 40 mi N of you. Nice wish-list for Christmas. You'll like it here.

Neighbor! :) I'll take you up on that some time! I've been scrounging for it and my biggest score came when a 100' red oak fell in my father in law's yard. Got about 3 cord out of the one tree! But I'm always on the hunt for more.

Yes, Alplaus is a great place to live. My wife grew up here, we got married in 2012 and we were considering places all around the world since running www.redargyle.com is my day job, I work remote and could have lived anywhere. After a lot of time and research, we decided to stay close to home and move to Alplaus. About 350 residents here, we once had the title of being "The smallest ZIP code in America".

On a down note, we're battling against a 350 unit development that someone is trying to build in the marina (it's under contract to be sold). Town meeting on Wednesday to fight the first piece of legislation that'll allow that to move ahead.

Question - how do you "mention" someone?

I just googled "epic music" and found the tune on youtube and then bought in iTunes for 99 cents. That one is called "Assassin" by Sub Pub Music haha.

Thanks for the offer CTYank, I've actually got a real good relationship with a local shop, Burnt Hills Hardware that is a Husky dealer. I call their tech the "Chainsaw Whisperer", the guy is unbelievably knowledgeable about saws. Definitely not here to start a Stihl vs. Husky fight, I've always thought Huskys were a good price point and since the dealer is 3 miles from my house, they've always been my goto and I'm familiar with them enough at this point, everyone in my family runs them so I just kept using the same stuff. I look at Stihl vs. Husky like "Surfing vs. Skiing". They're both awesome.

I've heard they pull silly amounts of native American artifacts from the area.
I don't remember exactly but I thought I heard when the marina was digging they had to stop work and have a archeological survey.
I've also heard it's full of PCBs which would kill revenue from a complex.
But I think there is so much money, corruption and special Interest involved it won't matter.

    But anyway welcome!
I'm a stone's throw away from ace hardware as well. Although I've never needed anything but bar oil from their power equipment area!

that's the great thing about this place we don't fight.. a lot of good natured ribbing ... glad you got a good local dealer.. that's a value right there.. wait til you read posts about right way to run a splitter (horizontal vs vertical) wood stacking to top cover or not OR
the best how to stack ends... cribbed ends (cribs are for babies) or use T Posts (posts are for fences) you be rolling :wacky::rofl: :rofl:

Glad you made it and just so you know FHC loves pictures and Video!
