Thanks, he delivered the rest of the trunk and branches today. Don't think I will get it all done this weekend but hoping. As for my help I trade Logs, chunks and wood that is too ugly to sell but very burnable for their help. It's a win, win for all. I don't have the time to process all the wood I get as I run a restaurant on the property as well. Live in the house next door (in the first picture the brown house with the big chimney about 600 feet away) and enjoy just getting away sometimes to the solitude of working my firewood.
One hand washes the other. As long as everyone is happy it's a win for all. Try to get as much done before the white stuff arrives. I'm gonna try and get some some dry stuff this weekend if I can. Trying to get a ahead as much as possible. Last winter was a bad one so I took a hit on my piles..
Good luck on your hunt and you're so right about last year. Where do you get most of your wood from? How many cord do you burn? I only burn about 2 cord a year a mere pittance compared to what I have seen on this site.
Only 2 cord a year? I could do this if I vented my stove indoors lol.. Guessing you don't heat year round with only wood and no furnace support? Even the Blaze King guys would burn more than that in your location.. Ray
No I don't as I had the house redone before I moved in 10 years ago, all new windows and R15 average through out the house only use my fireplace with a thermostatically control insert at night. Have a Trane 97% efficient natural gas furnace.
Well that explains the 2 cords a year thing.. Natural gas will never be available here so wood is very important to me..
Thanks, just delivered a cord 34 and freezing rain here, thank God for dump trailers. The customer's pellet stove's auger broke and she called this morning begging for a delivery today. I can only see anybody who sells firewood getting busier each year. As for the nuts who want to ban burning I was reading that if the wood rots in the forest or you burn it, it is same about of ozone being released into the environment.
The rest of the Beech got delivered Thurs. and 2 of the trailers ready for Sunday to be loaded. I have a lot of admiration for you guys who have to do firewood because you have no choice and aren't waiting on a hand out from somebody. I have a choice and it makes it fun but to be under pressure of thinking maybe I don't have enough to heat my home and keep my family warm this winter is a whole different story.
Didn't get much done yesterday as far as firewood. Five of us spent about fours hours getting a friends machine out of the ditch for water line that was being dug for a back pasture. Filled the trench in with a shovel added rocks and used a come a long hooked to a large Maple as well as a 4 wheel drive as an anchor then 4" by 4" with a steel grate over the trench lowered the machine and it came out. Ever have one of those days?

I'd talk to loggers. I'm in N. Central Tn and weight wood goes for $20. -25ton but you have to have a way to unload the log truck. The trucks 10-20 ton range.
I used have a lot of luck checking my town's web page for permits issued for new construction, finding out who the Contractor is and cutting a deal to take the wood. I no longer need this but it worked when I started out.
