He was outside gardening with my wife, weeding the rose garden in the front of the house. He just layed down under the birch tree's shade and watched her.
Thank you! Honestly, while we had pick of the litter, you couldn't go wrong with any of them. We tuckered him out today.
Badger is so good with little Hayden. I'm impressed that at 10, he is so patient with him. Of course Hayden did try to nip at his tail and face a few times, but he put a stop to that with some well timed and stern growls. We knew that Badger wouldn't hurt the little guy. Hayden didn't know that he wouldn't, and it worked.
Badger is being a good "dad". He is teaching the puppy there are boundaries that need to be respected, while being patient
Hayden helped me wash the truck today. We found the lake flies along the northern shore of lake Michigan in the way to pick up and bring Hayden home. Afterwards.. There were a lot of bugs to get rid of. The truck was actually pretty clean otherwise.
This little guy is pretty funny. He's a morning "person". Up at 7ish every day, eats, plays, all over the place, then sleeps most of the afternoon. Tuesday he'll be 9 weeks. I'll have to give him his next 9 way vaccination. I've given Badger his vaccinations in the past, so it shouldn't be that difficult.
No real reaction to it really. He liked being under my truck and getting water dripped on him. Today he walked right up to my small 1 gallon air compressor while it was running, and I mowed most of my lawn tonight and the tractor didn't scare him as I mowed right by the patio. He was 10 ft from the tractor with momma. Considering he's in the "fear" stage of puppy hood, he doesn't seem to be scared of anything.
Today was the 3 year anniversary of the day that Nicky Hayden passed away in Italy. We named our pup Hayden after him. Nicky Hayden: Remembering motorsport's much-loved "one-off" We didn't plan it this way, and the name didn't stick until a couple of days before picking him up. Even if he's out of sight, he comes running at full floppy puppy speed. So his name fits him.
Get them used to noises and objects young is always good and usually translates into them taking changes in stride as they get older.
Up at 5:44 am to let the little guy out. The good news is that we went to bed about midnight and he slept for 5.75 hours and didn't have an accident. Took him out and he did both within 2 minutes. Now it's play time. He seems to really play in the am. This goes for hours too. Not your typical 20-30 minutes then zonked out again type. My wife took this pic of him yesterday. We're going out on the boat today. Hayden's first time. I have to tire him out so he won't chew on anything. I think he'll have enough excitement with the boat on its own. We just have to avoid any dog common areas since he's not had his full vaccinations. Potty time will be interesting because we need to take him to shore, and the water isn't warm yet.
