Hayden is a cutie! Pups can sometimes give older dogs a new outlook on life and in exchange will help train the pup. I had one dog actually wake us up whenever our puppy, a Lab/Samoyed, Sampson needed out. One thinks we are putting old dogs "thru an ordeal" with puppies, but they are pack animals that usually dote on youngsters (like wolves for example). That is why the miniature dogs can bully larger dogs a lot of the time - they look like puppies so the larger dog will put up with more cr*p from them than from a larger dog.
Someone got me up at 4 am. Not bad. After that we all went back to sleep until 8:30. Potty training is going well.
Congratulations, that is a really cute pup. Looks like he will be big when he gets grown. Glad to hear the potty training is going great.
He was an ounce shy of 13 lbs at 6 weeks. I'll weigh him today. He's got big paws. He was pretty tired at the time of that picture. Probably the only reason I got a good picture of him at that point. So we named him Hayden, after Nicky Hayden, the motorcycle racer that passed in 2017 from a bicycle accident. Nicky rode Hondas and later Ducatis. Honda's slogan is "ride red" and Ducatis are primarily red, so Hayden as a fox red English Labrador made perfect sense to us. For those that didn't know about Nicky Hayden. Nicky Hayden - Wikipedia
Horkn I've gotta come out and say a big congrats on Hayden joining the family. Chazsbetterhalf notified me this afternoon that you got the pup. so stoked for you. I've got issues at the moment, combined with the shift change.. don't think I've been out here in nearly 3 weeks. I'm so glad ya got the pup.. Chazsbetterhalf says it was a spur of the moment decision.. not one of the ones y'all had initially looked at. Give us a better indication of paw size if ya can get a chance. Very happy for you.
Grey was one of the 3 we were looking at. It really came down to a few things as it usually does. The breeder said that grey was her pick of the litter as well, after we chose him. Teal was a sweetie, but we think he might be a little too laid back. Black collar, the lightest one, seemed less interested in us, than he did other things, like a lawnmower, etc. Grey collar just instinctively followed us around, liked being silly and liked being held, etc. He's been really really good with potty training, and all sorts of new stuff that he's never seen.
Well.. last I knew it was a toss up between 2. But yeah.. If this one was giving y'all the attention.. He wanted to be with you. Very happy for ya Horkn
I think we may have even considered up to 4 of the 7 pups. A lot changed as they started growing. I don't want to wake him to check his paw size, but he was almost 13 lbs at 6 weeks. I'll try to remember to weigh him tomorrow. Look at this pic from just now. He's kicked.
