Are you still running the saw although you tried both methods to keep the dust out. How long have you been running the saw.

Sure I am running them, it's a saw. I don't like it but if it blows there is a 4 year warranty. So run the cr@p out of em before it happens. The 562 is very strong, the 550xpg, not so much.

I only got a 2 year. I asked my dealer about it and she said only a 2 year even if I bought the mix.

Deal must have changed. I bought my 555 with 3 cans of fuel and got the 4 year warranty earlier this year.

I understand that but in my mind I think what about all the undue wear I put on it that first 4 years or whatever and it blows up at 6 cause of the issue.

There is a problem there. If dealer is made aware any damage should be covered. Thats a flaw. If you take a fresh run saw in thats not neglected and dont have a crappy filter and all that dust is in the intake thats a flaw. Think of all that was injested and not stuck in the intake.

Have to keep those chains sharp! I used to get the fines but learned that a good sharp chain is your best way to keep the filter clean.
Big chips can't get by the filter. I was being lazy and working a dull chain too long.

That helps a lot. But things like dry wood just make more dust. Sharp chains cut it down but dont eliminate it

Surely there is something wrong. Why would they go backwards on a proven design? I would be questioning my dealer real hard. But I cut some old dry dusty crap sometimes

I wasnt the one who said your running a dull chain. I pointed out that even sharp chains make some dust.

This is not a product of dull chains. Most of the wood I cut is very large, cut offs from log landings on freshly felled logs. It is not dry either. The only dust is the dirt from being skidded, a necessary evil.

Been cutting dead ash trees thanks to the Ashbore worm. I keep my chain's sharp but this dead dry wood make a lot of dust.

Yeah when I cut 3 year old dead ash got a lot of small chips. they tend to dull chain faster then fresh wood. but even freshly sharpened chains still had a lot of dust!

That's some good burning stuff. Supposedly "warms the kings feet".
If you have some and want to try it, put a thin layer of dieletric grease around the horn base and around where the filter mounts to it . That grease works very well on my ms261 filter base

I put bearing grease that came with the saw around the base of the horn. Also around where the 2 pieces snap together. Cleaned an area inside the intake boot. Next time I cut with it I will check the area I cleaned to see how much is in there.

As I said earlier, the grease didn't help, the O ring didn't help and the flocked filter was a replacement for the nylon mesh, (white one) that came with the "G" model. There is a problem with the air horn on these auto tunes.

This is the saw I have run probably the most, a 346XP, and it has NEVER been cleaned inside the throat. This is also the OLDEST (in regards to how long I have had them) saw I have other than the Stihl.

Are you thinking that it's getting through the media? Seems you've sealed up all the other points of entry.
