Kinda flirting with getting a new hatchet. Mainly for at the camper for splitting kindling and maybe the odd light limbing. I am leaning towards the Estwing 16" with the blue synthetic handle. Has anyone used this? Or what do you suggest that would be about this size/weight. I currently have a HF $3 pos f-glass handle that is only 12" and so light it is basically useless and imbalanced.

The Estwing is a good hatchet and will last forever! Just don't ever catch a thumb between the hatchet handle and the wood!

I have one, lives in the camper. No complaints at all. Works as it should.

Have had a Fiskars hatchet for years. They call it the X7 now but mine predates that. It goes with me everywhere I am doing woods work.

I own several different types, Fiskers, Collins and Estwing, I keep the X7 next to my log splitter because it's light and handy when logs splinter, My favorite one though is this one, Highly recommend it!

F78AD980-7B04-4DB1-9365-B52819B23E62.jpeg I have 4 small axe’s I use for light duty work and splitting, I seem to rotate through them
depending on what what I’m in the mood for or what I’m doing. I love them all and would recommend any of them in a heartbeat:
    1) granfors wildlife hatchet
    2)gransfors small splitting axe
    3) fiskars x11
    4) gransfors small forest axe

For light splitting at home and making kindling I use 2 and 3 quite a bit.
For camping I use either 1 or 4

if I was pressed to pick a favorite it would prob be the gransfors small splitting axe. Not cheap but it’s a handmade heirloom quality tool that should last a lifetime. I’ll attach a pic of mine from back when it was brand new...

Snapped a pic of my Gransfors arsenal today.....
The small forest axe was presented to me with my last name laser burned into the handle 12EA7F47-65BF-4DEE-904E-48C1E5A3D4F6.jpeg 7F489CBE-8D7E-411D-9427-112DC54CBCD4.jpeg C76F7F73-43B4-45BD-90A5-66107B748AD2.jpeg while on a canoe trip in the Adirondacks years ago with my buddies. Always thought that was pretty cool of my friends and a very generous gift!!!!

Very nice. Wouldn't mind having a collection like that myself.

Found these tonight at Walmart. Didn't need a new hatchet, but for $5 I think I'll take 3

Do they have the hollow handle? How balanced are they? If I could find them for a 5 spot I would probably get one for in each vehicle, the camper, house, garage, yard shed, and mail box.
