Just replaced the door gasket on the BKK. Had to back the catch out 3 turns. Turned back in as it takes a set, but it seems too much now. Passes the "dollar bill test" now, but if I back it out 1 turn, I can pull the bill out.
So, how much crush can I expect? Will it take a set overnight? Stove is cold. Thanks.

Dam, finally hit #3000 posts! I'm too mouthy I guess. ;)

Not a bk owner but when I upgraded to a newer thicker gasket, I also had to adjust the door latch. I made it pass the bill test and never adjusted it again. It was a little stiff closing the latch at first. It's been a year and it's finally to the point where I can feel a difference (easier to latch) but it's still sealed.

Id leave it be, burn it, and let the burn tell you iffn it's sealed.

It will take alot of crush. I wouldn't be bashful about it being really tight at first. More than anything make sure your bill test is good all the way around the door, it is possible for it to be loose on the hinge top and bottom too.

Good on sealing, and it took a set overnight. I can close it with one hand now, last night was some effort.

I azz-u-me that the indication of a leaky gasket would be similar to the door being slightly ajar? Flames dancing from leak instead of a nice smooth secondary burn?

You got it. I actually had a couple spots on the glass that would never clean up with increased temps. That was my main indicator.
