Looks like the side you were using is allowed to be driven with another tool, per their website. Not sure how concrete demo would be treated.

I agree. But using steel wedges on rounds is so much more shock absorbing. The wood gives as the wedge is being driven in. When I was smacking on the concrete the isocore felt similar to a dead blow hammer. I like the maul, heck it worked great! If I'm in a hurry, sometimes I will use cresent hammer (if you know what I mean ).

Fiskars makes a sledgehammer with an isocore handle too.
Maybe it's made out of a different kind of steel than the maul.

Man, I didn't know that. Maybe I will leave that thing on the shelf for a few years. Who knows?

It sounds like you are not going to take advantage of Fiskars warranty on the broken maul because you feel you abused the tool?...I think 818firewood is suggesting that Fiskars makes a similarly designed tool for the job so the maul should have held up to the concrete work.

Yes, I'm not taking advantage on the warranty. The reason being that it is a major pain to get to the post office, or a store that carries them. That is the same reason I never usually return items from amazon also. No big deal. Just part of living where I do.

I have seen them ship a new maul. Just by emailing them what happened and a photo.

Ditto. I received a new x27 shipped directly to me when the plastic around the head cracked, just filled out the form on line, I think I sent a pic too.

I have not needed to do this yet, but I know people who have made claims and that's how it worked. Pretty awesome on Fiskars' part if you ask me.

I ordered one last week, it came Friday. Just had a chance to use it. What a difference over a conventional maul! It is actually much faster on straight grain stuff than using my 22 ton White horizontal/vertical splitter. I gave up using a regular maul once I got my splitter 24 yes ago. I'd use wedges and a sledgehammer to crack large pieces, but 95% of my splitting has been done with the splitter.

This maul may actually change that. My boy and I split at least a cord and a half of Beech, Red Oak and Maple this afternoon. We were keeping up with my wife and youngest who were shuttling the wood with the FEL to the shed and stacking it.

Ya it is amazing how much wood a guy can split with a good maul. Good wood, and good help.

No buyers remorse for me on the purchase of mine .
The back side is sold as a sledge so I would not hesitate to collect on the warranty , they're not selling them as a feather duster .
I have one of the Fiskars fan rakes , 4 tines broke , I took a pic , filled out the online warranty form and a new rake (the fan part) showed up in the mail at no charge .

Looks like a monster maul (Sotz?) Be careful of that thing, you don't want to look like this poor fella.

Gross. All arm no body but whatever he’s doing wrong the muscle groups aren’t being targeted.

From what the article said, it was due to a home made chemical brew. He's in Russia so their medical system can take care of him.

I have an order for this maul. My only reservation is the weight. I have tendonitiis in my elbow and this probably isn't going to help. But the idea of whipping through cords of wood is too strong.
