In my experience these SxS all use motorcycle charging systems which means they put out close to zero amps at idle when you'd be using a winch. I just keep mine on a float charger and stay mindful that enough use of the winch will deplete the battery.

For Mules they have an alternator upgrade. Downsides are it's expensive and allegedly puts a little more tension on your crank bearings.

ATV winches are often 2500lb. (you can find smaller, and bigger, but 2500 is super common)
Yup, they tax your charging system for sure!

There it is. The machine weighs 700lbs I have only used it to get out when stuck or up onto a tilt trailer in low traction situations. I wouldn’t expect much for its log skidding capability.

Thanks guys. Doesn't look like a good idea to try to put a winch on a garden tractor.

Also btw I wouldn't worry too much about weight ratings on winches. 99.999999% of the time I'm not actually using the winch action, I'm just using the winch to pull stuff. About the only time I would use the actual winch would be for self-recovery if I get stuck.

I put a SuperATV brand on mine. I've had to use it a couple times and it's great. Love the wireless remote control feature.

You need 1.5x your machine's weight in pulling force...rule of thumb.

Have fun spooling just a little too much out and having the whole line come off while you cuss and yell trying to fit your hands in the gaps to re-wind. Though it looks like you have a bit more space than what I have so maybe it won't be so bad.

Moved some wood with it last week, just getting to post. Had other stuff in the bed, and was only gonna move a bit, but then moved more than I intended...

Beech in the bed, ash on the rack

Was supposed to rain a bit, so decided to move some WO that was stacked in the side yard to the shed closer to the house. It was more in the small stack than I thought... Also pretty sure it was pushing the 150 lbs limit on the rack (tongue weight limit for the hitch per 'Bota)....
