    Hello
My neighbor just found this cleaning his garage!
People do not use these much anymore but I used mine a lot! I always soldered the wires in my old Red 1968 Buick Grand Sport with one! I loved that car! I also raced it and did 16 secs in the quarter mile on Sunday at the local Drag Strip!
How many of you have one of these Weller kits???

Got one just like it at work. Minus the box. Pretty handy for most applications. I find I need a pencil style for some of my smaller RC soldering projects

Yep, two here. One in garage and one in work van.

I've got one... somewhere. Mostly I now use wind-resistant butane lighters.

My mom gave me one when I was a teenager. Mine was actually the same one with a Radio Shack branding (Archer, I think ...) I wanted a soldering iron, and I knew exactly the one I wanted (a pencil type), and my mom went to Radio Shack for Christmas shopping, and the sales person said it was the best soldering iron they had. So she bought it for me.

Unfortunately for me, because I really wanted a pencil type for the electronic tinkering I was doing. I used it anyway, as I certainly didn't have the money to buy a soldering iron myself! I have no idea where it went, I haven't seen it in decades.

Have two or three of them around from way back when. My father used to rebuild electric motors as a side business so there were always multiples of those things around, used regularly.
Just took notice of a new version in a local hardware store last weekend. Bought a smile to my face from the memory but then I looked at it cross ways, figuring it's probably made in China now. Didn't look it over to see, too much of a hurry trying to find what I went there for.

Sorry for the rambling in advance!

Yep, got 1 or 2 of them around here from my grandpa also have a couple pencil ones for more delicate work. My wife says I hoard tools. I tell her no I may not need it this week, this month or even this decade but I know I have it when I need it!

A friend from church always say he is impressed with how much money I save by doing projects myself, my reply is nope, don’t save anything it actually cost me more because I do 5x as much as much as if I hired it done! That and I needed some new toys!

Ps I’ve never figured out how people live without a tool box for auto repairs, tool box for plumbing repairs, tool box for electrical repairs, and basic woodworking equipment. Actually I do know but can’t understand, it’s called a single use mentality and throw it away if there is any wrong with it.

Yup, have one here. Use it on occasion. Last time was a de-humidifier switch.

Have one from my Dad branded Craftsman. I prefer pencil irons myself.

I have at least 3 of them in the garage, each with a different tip. I also have quite a few pencil irons, a few butane irons, and a M12 Milwaukee cordless iron. I did COMMO repairs in the army so I picked up tools that would actually work, unlike the issued tools, whenever I ran across them cheap.
