Every manufacturer builds a lemon now and then...look around a bit and you'll find people upset with their new "POS" Stihl, Husky, whatever brand...

I see that now, C83 X-cut chain. Strange thing is Husqvarna does not show that for the 455 nor does a few other sites but the specs all match by what I see. *****disclaimer****** I am not an expert.

Well, it's unknown what transpired with a saw that was previously bought, used and returned. Then you bought the used saw for 1/2 price. The manager may say anything to move it. Not enough relevant data here to critique a saw model.

Going to the Husqvarna website to register it and get the
extra 2 years on the warranty for buying the 3 qts. of fuel!
Not a bad deal for $24.00.:D

Here is a pic of one of mine. I have two. I tore this saw completely apart when it was new to see how it was built.
My only complaint was the clutch springs got a little weak and would not stop the chain completely from moving sometimes. But I have since fixed that.

I've turned the adjustment screw on the chain oiler to the max setting on my new Husqvarna 455 Rancher,
and still seem to be getting a very light amount. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I had forgotten about it until you ask this. My 455 oil pump went out before the warranty period and had be replaced.

Without taking it apart and making an inspection it would be hard to tell. There is a worm gear setup for the oiler and I believe it is plastic. I do not know if the filter in the oil tank is plugged up or the oil lines. Usually when I take them apart I would blow air through the lines to make sure they are clear. Also during really cold weather it does not hurt to thin the oil some to get it to flow better.

I have a MS290 here that I worked on and muffler modded and I do not believe it cuts as good as my 455 ranchers. I am giving it to my brother in law because I do not need the saw and have plenty of saws that will out cut it and he likes Stihl. I got the Stihl for free because it needed a new case. The oiler disintegrated and broke all the plastic behind the clutch and one of the nipples that the oiler lines attached to. I bought a used one off of ebay to fix it.

You did turn the screw all the way CCW? But don't FORCE it.

dougand3 yes I turned it all the way CCW as the manual says, and no forcing.

If saw doesn't oil enough on max...
    1. Oil too thick
    2. Nylon piston gear and crank worm gear are buggered up so doesn't turn on every pass - unlikely in new saw
    3. Oil tube clogged - unlikely in new saw
    4. Bar oiler hole/rails clogged - unlikely in new saw

Are you checking oiling by seeing a light spray line off the tip onto a visible surface?

Yes I'm seeing a light spray line off the tip.
Probably enough and I'm just being paranoid.

If you see a spray line off the tip of the bar then you have plenty of oil on it.

Yes doesnt take that much oil to do the job on a smaller bar like this...if you are comparing to the PP5020, they are non adjustable and IMO, over oil...no need to go 1 for 1 on a tank of gas and oil on a 20" or shorter bar...my MS290 (20") is set for 1 tank of oil to 2 tanks of fuel...works just fine, but I wouldn't go any less than that.
