When we were coming back from Walt’s GTG last fall …. Coming across I-70 noticed the side panel started to peel backwards… Gorilla tape to the rescue on the side of the road…
Looks great, but in all honesty...What wouldn't look great being dragged by that beautiful truck! Have fun my friend
The rebuild was using the base and adding good wood, gorillas construction adhesive, and long screws…
Used some rigid insulation.. and cut it to form… and FordWoman99 decided to leave a note for the next person down the line if ever…
Back together…. About 5 weekends a few long days in there… but it was a decent journey and learning experience….
Looks like a big improvement Kev n co! Just FYI, if you ever get into something like that again, and want an excellent caulk that has many color options...OSI Quad is top notch stuff!! Menards carries it, if you have any of those nearby... probably plenty of other places to get it too...
Actually it was sealed in OSI Quad…. I just didn’t see the “other colors “ till I went back to another Home Depot that had them together… lol…. They came came highly recommended from several tech that I kinda of follow. Now I just need to figure out how to get a pretty bead… lol…
We joined the camper crowd this year with a 1988 as well! Same thing, affordable & solid, recent new roof. Still ended up putting too much into it to get ready. (3) new tires, it still had the original 1988's on it!!, upgraded rear bumper for bike rack, painted frame, painted rims, new bearings, drop hitch, etc. And I still forgot to torque the wheel bolts before the first trip, D'oh!
Thats awesome… they must have had a surplus of that brown paint in those years around 1988… Hopefully it didn’t do much damage… but it look like it’s in decent shape… Good Luck and keep us updated…
No real damage, tire actually survived and holds air, but has some deep sidewall scratches and slices from being dragged 300 yards to get off the main road. If I had remembered the extra wheel bolts (not lug nuts) in my truck before we left everything would have been easy, but I ended up repacking the bearings and swapping on a spare hub I had bought. 25 minutes later we were on our way.
