For comparison, the Husqvarna 550Xp Mk. 1 has a 50.1 cc engine that produces 2.8 kW / 3.8 hp power output and weighs 4.9 kg / 10.8 lbs PHO (manufacturer's quoted specs). The Mk. 2 is a bit heavier.

Maybe the Husqvarna fuel that I had to buy to get the warranty is heavier because it has gold flakes in it. *shrugs* It certainly costs like it does.

It did pretty well on the Silver Poplar. This is my first time using a guarded chain, so I wasn't sure if it would bore, but it did. It stuttered just a little when I started the letterbox on the hinge, but once it was in it pulled through ok. Ronaldo* and sms4life* mentioned pics, so.... 20250617_144949.jpg

Once the tree kissed the dirt, the 540xp stripped the pole as easily as spreading mustard on a footlong. I was impressed, and I felt like I could easily do that all day. I bucked a few chunks with it just to see how it would do, but I finished with the Rancher. I'm not sure if it's the difference in the chains, or in the HP, or some of each, but the Rancher was much faster at bucking.

Twigs went into a burn-barrel that I placed over a nearby stump, and I was done in about an hour. Huzzah!

And yes Walt*, I'd gladly shake your hand and swap howdys at a GTG. Thanks for all the welcomes, y'all.

type an "@" then the first three letters of their user name and a list will appear. Then pick from them.

Very cool. The 540 should run even stronger once its broken in fully. I like a light snappy saw. I use a ported echo 2511p more than any other saw.

Welcome! You are going to love that saw. Making the switch from a consumer level saw to a pro level saw is so fun.

Thanks Canadian border VT , thanks Dok440 . I think I will, too.

I'm going up to my mother's place in early July. She had some blow-downs in the back 30 across a path, and she'd like me to clear them for her. Maybe I'll ask her to film my amateur saw-handling.

I keep thinking about your 2511p. I picked one up and liked it, but I worried that it wouldn't be enough saw. I never thought about porting. Do you have a thread here on your saw for me to look at?

I had it professionally ported by a guy that is a member here. His name is Kevin and goes by huskihl. This is in green red oak. 12" bar and chain.

It sounds so happy when you let it tear into that wood. Very nice!

    Welcome to the club again......
When huskihl puts the XS (Xtra Sausage) in a saw, it becomes a different animal. He has done 5 for us. We have 2 Echos, 2511T and 4910 and 3 Stihls, an older 029, a 362 and a 400 we just got.

    Happy cutting.
