I know what you mean. Those 2 trees were kinda short and bushy. We could have cut a little more limb wood out of them, but it was getting dark.
Our neighbor that had us clean up the cemetery above, had a dead pine on the hill above their house, was afraid it could hit his house. We went over yesterday to take care of it.. Put the tractor against it... On the back cut I cut a little bit through the far side hinge, stopped in time to avoid a disaster. Used Kubota to give it a nudge... Yep, it hung up on a sweet gum and oak...cutting it loose from the stump to see if it would roll off... That didn't work, so cut a block off... Still hung up, but the big Orange Crush (L4802) was able to push from the side and roll it off, down on the ground safely...
I see the snow didn't last long for y'all. That was a decent sized pine tree. What will it become? Lumber?
No sir, the snow didn't last long at all. That tree will return to nature. It had some termite damage one 1 side and top was bad.
We were referred to a lady for farwood a couple months ago, she finally called and we carried her a load a couple weeks ago. She lives a few miles from us, been by her gate many times and never knew anyone lived there. She has 40 acres and lives off grid pretty much. She called the other day, needed some water, her generator wouldn't crank for her well. She has ordered a new one, so we helped build her a pallet shed to put it in when it gets here. That's the old Troy Built she has. I think a new tank would probably fix it. She is getting a dual fuel one next.
Sometimes the shoe is on the other foot. This is Kenny, he's our neighbor about 3 miles up the road. He had come over to see our neighbor, Mike, but he wasn't home. Guess he heard the splitter or saw running and he came up to the woodyard. He was asking about some gravel, we talked a bit. When I started the splitter up again, he pulled out his gloves and started stacking. His help was much appreciated, especially when we got to the big knotty chunks and I had to go single wedge, moving a half at a time. We have done some tree work and sharpened his s aw a few times before. Hope to take him and his wife out for Sunday lunch soon.
Yes sir, he did right well...... He stacked this, pretty good, especially with the knotty pieces in this tote.
Our former pastor, great friend and neighbor is building a small flower garden in their front yard. He needed some good dirt, so we carried about 4-5 loader buckets on the dump trailer last week. Turned out to a bit bigger than we thought, he said if you're willing and have any more, we could use it. So I moved some empty totes around and scraped and dug up some more... After this load, he said that was PLENTY......I told him I was unsupervised yesterday...
