Is that the range in Lewiston? I have never been, there but I know a lot of people that shoot his clays course.
Nope, it's the one just north of Atlanta, near the DNR office, sort of across from the fairgrounds. Maybe 1.5 miles north of the blinker in town, on M-33.
england we cant use a shotgun for HD,we have to have them locked away in a gun cabinet bolted to the wall.and they get checked as well.
Can you imagine the local police having to go to every ha use with guns to check them!! Haha. Even in my relitively small county they would have a few full time folks if all they did was random a certain percentage of the households!!! if they had to do a say 100% every year that would require a whole team of cops, I'd have to guess a dozen or more guys that would do nothing bit house visits in the county looking at guns.
Good advice here. Pretty straightforward if you are looking for a single gun for home defense. Everyone should say, 12 guage, 3", pump shotgun, short barrel. Look at what our military uses: Mossberg 500, Mossberg 590, Mossberg 590A1 and Rem 870. 'NUFF SAID. The Benelli Nova Tactical is also a nice pump gun and the same price as the Rem 870. In the end, a pump 12 g. is the most reliable and most effective weapon for HD in close quarters. It also happens to be the least expensive. Some Marines and SEALs use the semi-auto Benelli M4 on occasion, but, I would absolutely not recommend a semi-auto, more moving parts = more maintenance and less reliable in the heat of the moment. As far as recoil goes, with a pump, you can just keep going down in load/powder until you get to where you want. A pump will cycle even the lightest rounds regardless of the guage. Not always true of semiauto's. You can't go wrong with and 870 or 500. Go to your local shop and see what they offer. I like to support local small businesses, especially if they will offer good service setting up your gun, teaching you to use it and follow-up service if needed.
Anyone look at the new- Mossberg 590 Shockwave. ? To me, this is about as close as you can come and stay legal, for a close to ideal bed-side defensive weapon. It's worth a look. Only downside, the Raptor birds head grip makes it tough to shoot from eye level. From hip or chest, you should be fine. *note- Don't install a side-shell carrier if using the birds head grip. *note- There may be a reliable adapter out there to retrofit into the 500/590, to use the Aguila 12g. mini-shells. Those mini's are a novelty, but they're a serious defense round.
