I too do not care for box store CV shafts. They are all regrinds, and you can have some big issues with those. I buy mine from Raxles. Yeah, they are more expensive, but they are worth it. Raxles only uses the factory ones nd rebuilds them the right way. A new drivers side cv axle is going on the audi on Monday. Raxles even buys your factory cv's and rebuilds them, even if you don't buy their axles.

CVJ Axles is the go-to for reman Toyota shafts. They rebuild with OEM parts and boots. They offer Chromoly for about $650 an axle if you are so inclined. This is my first go round with them but they were hands down the highest recommended place to deal with.

I have the reman shaft and boot kit in hand now. Was going to change the driver's this weekend but forgot to get an output seal (dunno if needs replaced or not, but I'll have one in hand). Currently rounding up parts and tools to do the needle bearing on drivers side. Will be replaced with a sintered bushing. Common failure on the second gen tacoma with any amount of lift.

Bought gear oil for the diffs and trans case yesterday. :emptywallet: The Royal Purple hasn't gotten any cheaper over the last 90,000 miles! Very interested to see the long overdue oil that comes out.
