I haven’t had good luck with powder coat. Once it is chipped and water gets between the surface and the powder coat it’s a losing battle. It comes off in sheets. My hitch is only 4 years old and rusting like crazy.

They guarantee Rhino Liner not separate from the surface.

Rhino liner warranty is only on the liner itself...in other words, if it cracks, peels, etc, they'll fix it...they do not pay for any repairs to the bed...oh, and their warranty is only on liners installed on a painted OEM bed, no flatbeds, misc. surfaces, etc...

Thanks. That's helpful. The local frame is not great, so I'm not inclined to put good money after bad. I appreciate the ideas for looking on the internets for a southern/southwest frame. Even with shipping, it should be much less than OEM. We'll see. I've never done this before.

It's cheap insurance. I was going to recommend POR-15.

I have been a bit busy lately but I would be happy to do some looking too but I need some more details about the truck.....ext. cab, reg. cab, 4x4...etc. even wheelbase.

Might be a long bed. Heck of a truck there. Thanks for thinking of me.

POR-15 is great if you're using it on sandblasted metal. Otherwise, dont waste your time, and money. Everything I put it on that was sandblasted is still perfect 7 years later. Things like my frame that I prepped following their instructions to a T all look like crap, and the rust came back, breaking through the paint.

Almost bought one.........almost. Waited too long and the party sold it back to the dealer since her husband had died and she had no use for it. Dang.....I'm sure I could've gotten used to the smaller firewood loads!

Welcome to the club! I had an OK experience with mine. Liked the Mechanic, didn't care for the service writers. They looked at it as a money getter situation with a myriad of things 'needing addressed' besides the frame. I have been addressing said issues myself to the tune of about 70% less money. Thought all I had left was diff & t-case fluid change and a serp belt replacement...then one of my CV boots started puking grease (original, 12.5 years old w/143,000miles). :picard: I have a reman OEM shaft on the way and a boot kit to fix the one on the truck. Gonna toss the new one on, then take the one with the bad boot to a local shop to have them check/reboot it. Then I'll go ahead and toss it on the drivers side and send the drivers back to the place I bought my reman from to get my core. Nothing wrong with the one with the boot issue besides the boot issue. I figure the boots on the drivers side will follow suit soon anyways.

Contrary to popular opinon...I do not care for box part store CVs. Toyota overbuilds theirs and uses high angle boots, which are now necessary on my truck moreso than when it was stock.

    That wasn't it. It was a bargain to begin with. I just couldn't justify buying a 1/2 sized truck....mini truck....whatever they're called.

I been using a product called Waxoil applied by a shop on my 1t gen tundra's. I bring them back every spring for a touch up which is done for a minimal cost.

The other thing I use myself is regular applications of Fluid Film to spots here and there over the summer and fall. I also spray inside the rockers and anywhere I can stick the flexible application hose. After a few coats of FF and some dust build up from gravel roads there is a thick coating that seems to be holding up and repelling our road salt well.

I hear of guys spraying with bar and chain oil as well with good results.

Thru 2004 Tacoma was a compact truck
Since 2005 it has been a mid-size truck

This was a used 11 or 12. It was around 4 years ago.

If I had purchased it and found it too small, my brother sure would have picked it up from me since he has mentioned wanting a tacoma. The dealer that the widow sold it to is known for playing hard-ball with their customers. They try to give them that "you got a good deal" feeling with after intimacy session.
