Need Maul Recommendations

    I'd agree with an 8 lb axe eye.

    Not saying anything bad about the European mauls but I've tried one. Mostly because it's too much of an investment.

    Understanding that you mentioned a preference towards wood handles - which this is not.

    The combo of the Fiskars X-27 and ISOCORE is excellent. On the toughest rounds you break them in half with the 8lb'r then move to the x-27 so you are only swinging the heavy one the least repetitions possible.

    I have all 3 Fiskars, the splitting maul, the X27 and the X25, i actually like the X25 for its speed when splitting, and you can use it for kindling as well. All 3 are great tools and i've really enjoyed mine.
