Seems like almost anything would be an improvement. My singular complaint about R1's: I park it with muddy treads, mud dries. Next time I run it I have 10' trails of mud leading out of the stall. Likely to happen with any tires. The R1's have larger 'compartments' for the mud to collect in.

R4's leave the same mess. So do turf tires. Mud is gonna do mud stuff no matter what tire you run.

I don't have those tires but my god I hate that. I get it with my tractor, sxs, mower.

So you're telling me that R1's are perfect. I'll abide that I guess. :)

We picked up the final upgrade yesterday at Estes Freight in Augusta.
L4802 did a fine job unloading it 1000018771.jpg
Finally got it unwrapped... 1000018772.jpg Mounted on the tractor, even had the hoses hooked up right...Catawba 60" grapple 1000018775.jpg
Seems to hold logs pretty good... 1000018778.jpg
    Hope I haven't lost my seat... 1000018801.jpg
Miz Carol's first time driving it.

That's a nice tractor you got the Mrs. Jeff. Special occasion?

That's the style of grapple we have on our L2501......of course ours is much lighter built.
As time goes on, I'm interested to hear your impressions on the difference in the two different ones you now have.
I've never used one like your old one, but have had a few guys load logs onto my trailer with em, my impression is the new one you have allows a person more fine control and better visibility for accurate placement, whereas the other type is probably better for grabbing bigger bites of brush and small logs.

That’s a good looking grapple. I seriously considered one before I bought the Land Pride, but I had a finish mower that I didn’t use and my dealer gave me a decent trade in price for it. Hope it serves you well.

Im pretty sure those are still R4 tires. R14 tires are significantly different.

    R4...

I worked for 3 hours friday trying to get a big pine Stump out with my older Massey. It's still in there.

The MTL grapple is better for brush handling and picking up several smaller logs. I think it's better for loading, as I can reach farther down into dump trailer before releasing logs. I'll try the new one soon loading logs and see how it does.
If you need to grab a log on the end and pull it out, the old grapple has more reach, but new grapple has better teeth.
The old grapple has an angle on the backplate, which allows for better prying effect, new grapple is straight on back. Mounting plate on new one seems a little lightweight.

Well, we found out the LA766 loader likes the 275-gal totes of green white oak... 1000018868.jpg
It doesn't like a 330-gal tote of green red oak...it picked it up with about 6" left to go, but not full. Glad we don't have many of the big totes. 1000018869.jpg

It will pick it up fine, once it dries a bit.

It has the regeneration exhaust system on it. The big tractors requires DEF

I believe once you hit 75hp the Def is required.
