May I HD? Could you burn an NC 30 without a pedestal? Like on a fireproof pedestal and piped into a fireplace opening? Thinking about a bigger one next spring, not this one lol
pole barn is insulated, has a ceiling with insulation above, but could definitely use some improvement
I don't know why you would want to do that either comes with a pedestal or legs, I'm not a stove guy but my guesstimation is that it would be best with some kind of air circulating under
My fireplace opening with the SS lined chimney is 24" high.... Wishfull thinking, sorry for the derail HD
there is no problem with derail, I like I said I'm not a stove guy, I am just kind of guessing here, but the more I think about it, my stove doesn't put out much heat it all on the bottom so if you were to raise it like 3 or 4 inches above the hearth it may work okay I don't know. Start a thread about it the real pros will chime in
The stove body is 22 & 3/4" to the top of the heat sheild. It's not removable as far as I know, unless you cut it off. I wouldn't advise that. ww, are you talking about taking the pedestal off completely, then putting the stove body in the fireplace? Not sure how the stove would react to that. Mike Holton is our ESW rep here....he might have some insight on that thought.
Thanks guys Mike told me he would talk to me personally, and I did not call him. I assumed the insert would be sufficient especially with the width of that particular room..... I WILL give him a ring this spring or early summer when we get closer to actually making the change from the insert to a stove. It needs to be done safely, thanks for your input!
Hard to get glue to dry in the winter . LOL Let alone a finish coating. Got me all excited about a new stove , & you wood working in the shop more. & I'm just a bystander . LOL Fingers crossed
hell it is hard to get glue to come out of the bottle in a cold shop finishing now that is a whole other program, I do have my basement but that hover around 55 degrees with the wood stove up stairs. My winter months used to be spent in woodshop loving every minute of it
Yea. Brought the stools to the basement by the stove, the clear minwax is dry, but needs to cure. Hard to justify heating the shop into the 70°s for a small finish job. I usually set for 60° when in there, NG heater. No good place or enough floor space for a wood stove
my pole barn is 24 by 28 and I always wanted to partition off a finishing room, but now I have so many machines in there, I would probably have to add on a finishing room
Probably does, because hey! 250 bucks for that stove is not a bad deal even if it needs some refurbishing , and I have been looking for a stove to heat my shop. Yes there will be a short road trip involved
