I'm having a seriously funny mental image. "She'll clean yer teeth and if you give her any trouble, she'll cut your darned leg off!"
I always praise her fire starting skills, but between you and me, I give most of the credit to the nice dry wood.
My wife stacks it, as I split which is perfect as I hate stacking it. Cutting, skidding, splitting, all good, but stacking is her gig
My wife moves the tops and brush while I'm cutting and loads small rounds into the trailer. She was totally worn out and drenched in sweat by the time we were done this past Sunday and she'll be raring to go next weekend when we go again. When she helps with the splitting, she either runs the splitter or stacks. She loves being involved in all of it.
Yes, 3, but they're all crazy, stupid or both. I got the only normally functioning one. While growing up, she stuck to her dad like glue, while the others did the usual girl stuff. She doesn't care to operate the stove, just likes the outdoor activities that keep it fueled.
My wife runs the splitter and I put the wood on, then get the next piece ready. Makes it go pretty quick, she takes charge stacking at the pile. She fits the ends together with just the right pieces so that the pile is free standing and stable, I work on filling in the middle. She keeps the stove going 24/7 when I'm not home as I work twelve hour shifts. I carry five cords of wood over six months to the wood boxes on the porch. And that is way better than running like a gerbil on a treadmill at a health club.
It's a great activity to do together. We're going out to do some splitting here in a few minutes. Great day for it.
