    Welcome to the FHC ImGunnar:handshake:
    1) get chaps takes a time and noises to slowly lose hearing AND less than a second to lose a leg
    2) doesn’t echo still have 5 year warranty?

As far as I’m aware you have to use the decompression button to start this saw but I most definitely could be wrong

I have never seen a saw that required use of the decomp to start them. Alot them just get plugged.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes I burn almost everyday but I do not have a stove as of yet we do use a stove to heat the house at the property tho. Mainly just bonfires and using the fireplace inside all the time. I also sell firewood to a few close friends and coworkers not a lot at all tho. Also yes I do have room for storage but I just got into this really still have to learn a lot! I only have about 2 cords currently. Lastly there will definitely be more pictures soon as I find some wood to scrounge and test the saw on!!

Oh okay you’re probably right I don’t know much about saws at all besides how to cut with them haha but I was just going off of the owners manual starting process

Congratulations on your first saw! You are in for some good times. Every time you go out and cut firewood you will learn something new. There is a lot to it, so don't be afraid to ask questions. There are really knowledgeable folks here and they don't mind sharing their experience.

The compression release can be used or skipped at your discretion. All it does is make it easier to pull the starter cord. If it helps you use it but I'm guessing you will forget a few times and then you will abandon it.

You don't need to use it to start it. I didn't use it on T.Jeff Veal 's ported 4910 in May. Actually, I haven't seen any saw that you need to use it on to start one, and I've used big saws. You just have to pull on it harder, some can't do that, and that's why there's a decompression button on many saws.

Congratulations on your new saw purchase
It’s your first saw I would say
Get a file and backer gauge set for your chain and learn how to file
As far as chaps you can buy chaps anywhere from Amazon to huskys at Lowe’s
Brand doesn’t matter it’s all on what you like

Welcome to the club. Lots of great folks here sharing knowledge and humor. That is a great saw. It really is a pro saw, the handle and coil are about the only difference between it and the 501P.
We have one, had huskihl port it, it's a beast now, my go too saw. I use the decomp button when it's cold start, after that it's not needed.
Here's some good chaps also. Very good protection...

I know dudes think they loose their man card for using a decomp but, if nothing else, it is easier on the pull start mechanism to use it wether you can pull it over or not without it. Especially if its had the compression jacked up.

Hey now!!! Chaps cheaper than stitches!!
Sharpen own chain cheaper than paying others dull chains don’t cut well..
He said he had room; 3 year plan is free !!!
Backwoods Savage will be here shortly with his “primer”
Gunners bio say 24 he trying to learn.. slammer will keep more heat in house than a fireplace will!

All very true and valid points.

Personally, I think Backwoods Savage is slowing down as he hasn't posted about the "primer" yet! :D  :rofl:

Thank you for the link! Also I have read about people porting the saws and what not. What is that or does it mean and how do I go about getting it done?
