They hinted at it. I said I will settle for no less than a new door. Really just wanted my money back but I realize it’s not going to happen.

Yeah he was pretty active on the other forums before...if he still works there it appears that he must have stepped back from the forums all together...

If I were in the business, I would monitor all the forums for ideas and potential problems, but incognito. Supporting your stuff in a public forum is fraught with danger.

ESW did not ask for the old door back. To me that’s a tell that they are well aware of the issue...

So instead of throwing it out I plan to do something like a shadow box or picture frame or something. It was raining and raw yesterday after work so I went about re installing the glass. It looks to me like the threads pulled out of the cast door? I would expect to see clean threads right to the surface of the cast?. B97E93A7-0193-4861-A03B-D56C46D71266.jpeg 78E2C5B8-E518-4E8B-9F90-893DF4C8C4DF.jpeg I can get the machine screw to bite but not until it’s way into the bolt hole. interesting

and I’d like to know what they use to hold the door gasket on it holds extremely well better than anything I have used before.

I see 'guide holes' in a lot of the cast aluminum parts we use here. It must be to help assembly. (There are ss heli-inserts in the aluminum for the ss bolts.) With aluminum, 'stepped in' also probably helps with corrosion from the dissimilarity of metals .

I’m not familiar with “guide holes”. Perhaps it’s a thing. I could remove one of the fasteners on the new door for inspection. I might just do that even tho I have no plan to use the stove again.

0E4257EA-3A5A-4B93-8B31-DBDD56DA78B6.jpeg Sorry for the terrible pic it’s the best I could get. There are threads through the entire bolt hole but it appears it was tapped sloppy or the fastener was over torqued pulling some of them. My thought is the heat cool process worked fastener out of the cast door.

so, anybody want a good deal on a paperweight?

Yeah, hard to see. Is it a tapped hole or an insert ?
A bigger bolt might be an option.

When I looked at those stoves at Lowes my first thought was too much glass, not enough door. Looks pretty and big glass probably sells stoves .
It is a nice looking wood stove.

Bad or soft castings maybe? Who knows. Doesn't look right for sure. Are you going to fire the stove back up and try the new door, or sell it?

Can't say I blame you with that particular stove.

Looking around online today, I can't find an NC-30 for sale anywhere. Think they pulled them?

I expect they did, no sign of them having been certified to 2020 standards.

If you look at Englander's website they pulled a lot of them.

Yeah, the pulled everything save for the pellet stoves minus the Survivor Lifestyle line.
I can't find any information explaining it or what they're working on.

469DFF23-B55A-4FA7-9490-4FAA2A2E3FB1.jpeg Stair climbing dolly is a back saver for sure. The stove is in the garage I’ll clean it up today and list it. I plan to disclose there was an issue with the door but it was replaced under warranty.

Warner are you planning on getting a different new stove or going back to your old one? If you are looking at new talk to Well Seasoned Brian and see if he can give you any insight on some models they may have at his work. A lot different approach than Lowe’s.
