Yes it does like to split wood. I split wood yesterday for 2.5 hours and I probably had 3 or 4 pieces get kicked back. It seems like whenever I make a video things don't go right. The wedge on the splitter could have been against a knot in the wood or the maybe the grain was funky there. I just needed to have the piece flipped end for end. It really does not happen that often, it just like to do it for the camera. I threw those pieces on the pile without getting a picture. I was able to find a piece. I am amazed it split it on the first try.
Those subaru engines are great. I have one on my dr rapid fire. It always starts up right away hot or cold weather..it's a shame they don't make em any longer..I love their cars also..
It's definitely a "slice" on those knotty gnarly pieces rather than blunt force. Haven't been able to put in as much time as you have, but the more I've used it the more I like it and you seem the same way Now the battle is maximizing efficiency!!
Yes, I love it. I don't think I could use a hydraulic splitter again. I am amazed that on a nasty piece that my hydraulic splitter would bog down on, this just goes right through.
Here are pictures of the internals. The rack and pinion. Return springs Flywheel with grease fitting. Drive belts Safety Safety released Centrifugal clutch
I ran out of gas for the first time at 4.3 hours. When I refilled it I found out the tank holds just under a gallon.
I can tell that's not easy splitting wood and stringy too. Both of those Splitters take care of it pretty well but the split-second is just faster, with the tables and the left and the speed it's a good setup. I like the little table back there to set your tools on too. I like that trailer back there too Get yourself a set of suspenders so you don't have to keep pulling your pants up that's what I did
Yes, both splitters handled it well. I think the Split Second handled it really well. Everyone acts like a kinetic splitter won't split something like that. Thanks, I feel the splitter is setup nice with the large table and log lift. The tool tray on the back is a nice addition too. Thanks about the trailer too. I lost some weight and those old pants are like 2 size too big.
It took care of those knotty pieces no problem, shoot you can whack it 3 times in the same time it takes The hydraulic to go through once. Splitting stringy stuff slows me down quite a lot because I have to use the full stroke
That is my thoughts on it too. In the 8 hours of operation I've only had to 4 pieces twice and once piece 3 times. Before doing the video I only had hit 2 pieces twice. I am amazed at how well it splits.
Dang, I wants one. Nice vid work and congrats on such a bad-azz splitter. Did you already own the 2-way or just borrow for demo purposes? Sorry if I missed it previously.
Never mind-saw above the 2 way is your "old splitter", and it looks brand new-prob be selling that real cheap to a fellow FHC member I'm guessin....
I ended up taking the filter off. It does have a "4'' lift", tool box, and hour meter. I do have a homemade 4 way wedge for it but I don't want to sell it because of the liability.
