    Husky fan here. :salute:
While I don't own any 500 series, I've run plenty and they are butter smooth. More so than any others I've used. Antivibe is stellar.
Slippery slope in the past critiquing the other side. Some tend to get.. passionate,, about their preference. I always like to have fun going back and forth w/ guys about it. :handshake:

I've run 462's and 500's @ gtg's. Honestly I thought they were the most "Husky" feeling Stihls I've ever ran. 462's were light and nimble and were not short on the type of power that the all orange saws produce(high revving, quick to accelerate). This is just my opinion/experience here so if you disagree . The 500's seemed a bit lack luster for their cc. Ported ones, not so much. o_O If I had to pick one to own, it would definitely be the 462.

80's 90;s etc. Seems it will take several pulls on a hot start and sometimes it will idle weird/race when it does start. I try to be mindful to let the saw get to idle when before I shut it down as its my understanding the chip remembers what the idle was when shut off. I've heard others have the same issue on here too.

I like things that work good. Older I get the less I care about brands. I wanted a big cc heated handle saw—592 XPG was available, off to huskihl to be ported.

I have an m tronic 462. Woods ported, with Egan muffler and air filter on it. Pulls 28 with full comp chain very well. I would like to Run a 400 Stihl just to see what its like.

Maybe going to the closest get together this summer and run various ported/non ported saws in a variety of cc’s and manufacturers. Would give some insight in what direction he may want to go. I wish they were closer. I would love to go to one.

Im sure the 400 would be the go to ripper for a 20 inch bar. Should pull 24/28 in softwoods with no problem.

Love it running full comp 20". I have used the 24 on it, not sure of the 28. Having a 462, 460, & 500i I don't really need to use the longer bar on it. Sometimes I'll just take two saw to a cut if bigger logs.
Nice to have that choice. Waiting on the MS400.1 curious to try one.

I run a 20-inch bar and 33RS chain on my MS400C. I mainly cut hardwood, works perfect for me.
