I had asked him for how much he made this last season and he said $6000.

I’m not sure to be exact I’m guessing he gets $600-$750 a cord. He did sell over $300 worth the last 2 days and half of that was pine for fire pits

Jrider, any update on how your son is doing with his firewood sales?
I had shown this thread to my 9 year old and I think we will give the firewood bundles a shot after next summer. We will have 2.5 year split/stacked black oak ready for some bundles by then. More and more people by me are buying fire pits and are looking for some good deals on wood.

He’s over $600 so far this month and it isn’t even cold yet. We did remove what was left of the pine on his stand last weekend and filled it with nothing but hardwoods. I’m afraid he’s not going to have enough to get him through the winter.

You must be proud! Just reading an article the other day talking about how in the past, what largely determined success was higher education, and how that has been changing and will continue to change. The idea of the article was that the success of the up and coming generations will be determined more by drive and work ethic. Appears your son is well on his way! Awesome setup:thumbs:

This seems to be an almost weekly occurrence on at least one of the local town Facebook pages. Multiple people tagged me/my wife so we could respond with more information. Yeah, his 10 cords are definitely not going to be enough.

Love the support he is getting. If you haven't done it already, maybe have him print up some business cards that he can put out at his stand.

jrider, I am curious about any financial 'arrangement' you have with your son, if any. Like, does he save all of it? Spend some? Does he dream of buying something with some of his money? Does he comprehend having a big nest egg down the way?

Your son is nine and he's done this three years. Sheesh, by the time he graduates high school, he will def have a huge bundle of money. That's amazing. Invest part of it and he could be rich, lol.

Do you have other children? Again, just curious. I don't have any, wish I did!

I have a friend who has a son who is about 15 by now and he's done a youtube channel for several years now and he earns a lot, too. He's become quite the videographer, audio engineer, script writer and actor!

We never sat down and planned anything out financial wise because we never dreamed it would take off like it has. Everywhere we go, people will mention the little boy that sells firewood and my wife and I respond, yeah he's our kid. haha. He does come help me process some of the wood I sell but between sports and playing with his friends, that time has become more limited than I would like. It's tough to balance teaching him work and not having him grow to detest it by being forced. He truly is a good kid and does a lot to help us around the house. I only mowed my yard one and a half times this year because he did it all of the other times. As far as the money he makes, he puts almost all of it in the bank which we then transfer to an investment company my friend works for. Currently, he owns stock in Tesla and Apple as well as some other tech funds and has seen about a 12% return on his money so far. He knows he has to buy his own vehicle at 17. Other than that, he doesn't have any plans that I'm aware of. He has 2 sisters, one older and one younger. Neither of them are nearly as ambitious as he is.
