So the power company was back Friday and dropped 3 more big ash trees behind my house; two 18 inchers and one that was about 24" diameter. This time they didn't have time to start bucking them so I got my dad and brother over to help me out so we could get them to the length we want and enjoy the 60 degree weather (and it's a chance to get the saws out!). We got it all cut up and split just over a cord which I gave to Dad. I'm guessing there's another 3 cords left on the ground. My dad and brother promised to come back in a few weeks and help split some for me, but I'll probably let them take most of it. I've got wood for 2017/18 already split and ready to be stacked but this is the first wood they've gathered so far for 2016/17. EDIT: Right as I hit send I started scratching my forearm and realized I have a poison ivy rash. The trees were covered in large ivy vines and I was cutting through them and removing them before my brother got to it. He's HIGHLY allergic to poison ivy, but I haven't caught it in 2-3 years. So I guess short-sleeve weather in January has it's downsides....
