What I thought was a mark/gouge in your earlier pictures I can see clearly now is just a clean spot on the piston.

The destroyed motor certainly looks to be aftermarket to me and your new one likely is too. Is the new motor already sealed up?

Ya the new motor is aftermarket, bought it off ebay, but it is a brand new product. uploadfromtaptalk1449612706140.jpg it is not sealed up, but it is all assembled, I will just need to seal the crankcase when I put it in.

Seal it and PRESSURE/VAC test too. Might as well replace the impulse and fuel lines too....then you be dun.

If you wouldn't mind, whenever you are ready, would you mind pulling the bottom pan off and snapping a few pics of the motor internals? If you aren't comfortable pulling the crank/piston assembly out, I won't ask you to, but if you did, I'd love to see the inside of the cylinder.

When you do go to seal up that motor, there are a few good products that are fuel/oil resistant that will do the job. Just make sure whatever you use is indeed fuel and oil resistant.

im with mm looks like it maybe ate a bearing or something else. If its a bearing id say lack of oil or straight gassed or overreved.

Farmertec or huztle! Please report back non how it lasts. I have a kit of theirs on a 372 but other than fire it up I have not done anything.

Did you get it from china or a US reseller?

I love their stuff. A great deal and it gets to me usually in 5-10 days

Never bought a shortblock from them just a piston cyl kit for a 372. But all I did was install it start it and tune it. Never really run it.

I have used sprockets, clutch covers handles tanks, fuel line etc.

Anytime I buy an aftermarket piston cylinder I make sure the cylinder is Nikasil coated, and I pitch the rings that come with the aftermarket kit and buy good Caber rings.

As for the wrist pin clip coming out and trashing the cylinder, I'm betting it wasn't properly installed or they squished the tension out of it when the previous owner installed it.... I've never had that happen.....yet....

I buy all my saws on Craigslist or ebay on the cheap knowing full-well they're gonna need work. I enjoy tinkering with them and being they're almost all rebuilds that I did myself I know exactly what I have in them and I ain't afraid to use them. And believe me I use them hard.....

    Just my .02 cents.....

Was it running like that or did it blow up after you had it? Did you test run it?

It was running when I bought it, the guy said he had put a new cylinder and piston in it because when he got it it was 'straight gassed'. It ran great until I was cutting my 2nd almond tree down the it died as if out of gas, I refueled and it would not start, that is when I pulled the carb off and noticed the broken piston skirt. . . I paid 250 for this saw, yes I know that's a lot, but it would have been a good deal if the saw lasted, but o well, you live and learn.

Well I'm willing to bet the farm that he took the tension out of the wrist pin clip when he installed the new piston. They can be tricky to install......

Especially if they are AM Chinese clips. OEM is far superior in this case.

OP you may want to consider OEM wrist pin clips and good caber rings in your AM motor. Overkill maybe but good insurance. Just my .02 and worth what you paid for the advise.:D
