I went and cut out the bl today. It was an uprooted twin-trunk. One trunk was dead, as the bark was coming off. The other seems more green, with tight bark.

    Got it home and unloaded.

I have 2 stacks of it going. The greenest of it is being stacked with some recently stacked red oak. They'll have to play nice together for 3yrs. The more seasoned is stacked by itself, for now.

I'm guessing just shy of 1/3 cord.

I noticed a few other blogs trees that I'll keep my eye on. They were looking at little rough. I'll be watching for leaf-out in a few months.

Nice work Mike! Have you cut all of the BL from there?

    Cut, split, and stacking time.

    Telltale green wood chips

Here's the stuff that looked the most dead/seasoned

    Just the nearest rack.

And the less seasoned, to the left of some red oak.

All out of inventory, at the moment.

buZZsaw BRAD - there are other black locust trees, upright, where I scored this wood. I'll be checking on them in a few months to see if leaves come out. If not, I'll get them.
