    Yup - it works just fine ,after a 90min try this morning. Had to stop to get ready for a trip to the Cape for lunch with the Mrs, and my sister-in-law.

    Tomorrow, I get to split, move and stack.

    Most of that wood is red oak. There's a couple of large rounds of sassafras mixed in.

    I like to use a little smaller diameter log for the posts, it opens the "V" up a little more.

    Yep - blocks n branches work good keeping the logs up at a comfortable be cutting height.

    Most of it is drifting in the wind now, indeed.

    But to answer the question, I often cut stuff down to 2-3 inches in diameter, and throw that on the tops of my stacks. That is most of what was on the sawbuck in that photo, you can see the smaller stuff on top of the stacks to the left as well.
