Nice pic Stinny, looks like perfect weather for it. The winds are still going pretty good up here, we're all sick of the wind.

It really was perfect with no wind until I came up out of the woods. Even then, very nice.

    Wow... Beautiful pics!

Thanks for sharing. What's the base you have there? For your snow shoes to sink several inches in some places, it has to pretty deep.

Dex…not much actual base at all. All of the rolling humps of snow in the woods look like deep snow but it's actually what the ground looks like below with years of water washing down and around everything, and mountains of leaves from all the hardwood. It's one of the reasons that hauling logs in the winter is easier. I can drag the main trails until they're level across all those sags… the more I drag, the harder the main trails for later spring hauling.

The area still had remains of the ice and 1"-2" drops of snow that had made a hard lower base. Then a few days ago, we got a nice dump of 7"-8" of light dry snow. It's stayed cold, so the snow pack is holding with no settling. Shoeing was effortless because of that light dry snow. No weight to it at all. I'll head out again and again now until the pack gets harder.
