It’s either that or there are no wild quail or tweety birds left on his place. Geepers creepers...16...and you still have...as someone said...meeces.

Yeah, that's what we do. A little every day to keep them around and healthy (especially while its cold), but not enough to lay around. However, I think I have a neighbor feeding them too. For some reason they are fat this year and I know I'm not feeding enough for that.
They did get two big rats and a couple mice last week. There's just a lot of hiding places for them to fester.

My folks were at the house today to spend time with my kids. When I left this morning I told my dad the stove should be set for the day don’t worry about it. 32347864-CF00-4B98-AE6E-4C3FE5580718.jpeg When I got home he said he put a few pieces in for me. He must have closed both the damper and primary air down right after loading.

A couple decent burns (sometimes just one) and it might clean itself up.
A wet paper towel when the window is cool is often enough too.

A damp paper towel dipped in a little fine ash works well to clean glass...then a second clean damp towel to do the final polish.

Isn't there one of those never ending threads on here somewhere about keeping stove glass clean???

Yeah, damp newspaper and stove ash.
but you'll need a smidge of elbow grease along with that so "others" may not have tried long enough.
