Its going down to upper 20's tonight with very strong winds. I decided to pack the stove with hard maple and hickory. These 50mph gusts are really making it difficult to keep the stove dialed in correctly. Wanted to lay down a half hour ago, but kept an eye on things instead. SP hit 900F and stove was at 800F. The stove has finally calmed down....... stove room 87F Well, i can guarentee the oil won't kick on in the am when windchills will be in low 20'sF :firepit:
20's wow, back here in IL just 40's tonight, but the boss lady said she was cold so the little stove is going. The ole Buck has to rest. She would over power things. Not much draft to work with here....temp is too high.
Same here when the wind blows Sucks lots more wood up the stack. No trouble getting a good hot fire going. I err on the low side for the setting before going to bed, If the winds die down, stove burns cooler but it also don't cool the house off as much.
Ouch, that is just too cold for this time of year. Way up here in Maine, our over night temps are not projected to go below freezing for the next week. The ocean is what saves our butt this time of year. Further inland it can get a lot colder. Had my share of cold this year. 45 f out and 75 f in and wife has the stove going, but I have the bedroom window open a couple inches! We just won't tell her.
We're getting normal spring weather for this time of year. Low 30s at night, low50s in the day. 1/2 loads at 8:30 pm, on low smolder burn settings. Enough coals after 24 hrs for easy restarts & house staying between 72 - 75. Just getting dark (10:15) & 41° out
We ended up with low 30's F last night. There have been nice temps during the day and colder ones at night. The wind was the kicker yesterday.
