I'm ashamed to say I haven't done too much related to firewood of late. I've split and stacked some cherry, finally assembled a rack I got as a gift for Secret Santa, and did a restack, but that's about it. My parents said they had a "real big tree" fall over that was on the fence line. I waited until yesterday to go and start cutting because they are on vacation and I didn't want my 86 y/o dad to try and help and get hurt. It wasn't a "real big tree" but it was mulberry. Felt good to be back at it. Feeling motivated now.
Thats a nice haul. Any more of them at your folks place you could cut down? I always get a little giddy when I score MB. Scores of it around here are somewhat rare and usually not much.
Nice lil score! Seems like once you get past June 21st, and we start losing a little daylight, then we get a break in the crazy hot weather 9like when it went down into the upper 40's overnight here one day last week) that whole "winters coming" firewood hoarding bug starts to kick in again...
The Wood Wolverine loading it up isn't too bad, cleaning it out sucks. I usually put a tarp down, but forgot it. I need a truck, but want an older square body chevy. So the old Tahoe will have to do. buZZsaw BRAD yeah I was pretty stoked when I saw it was a MB tree. There's another next to this one that has a lean to it and a dead section, but my dad won't let me cut it. Im pretty sure there's another that is down next to the meadow. These trees are pretty old because they were big enough for me to climb them when I was a kid.

Good stuff buddy! I like saving a little mulberry heartwood for smoking. Chvymn99 got me turned on to using it for cheese. Nice mild flavor.
Ive yet to try MB for cheese. Ive only used apple and cant imagine it being better. Is there a big difference between the two taste wise? I like a strong smoke flavor personally. Ive only smoked sharp cheddar, block mozzarella, and string cheese.
I didnt think it was alot of weight at first because most is 4-8" diameter, but drivibg home I could feel it.
Mulberry grows like weeds around here. Great in your stove for heat and like Scotty said, premier smoking stuff. Regrettably, the wood-gobbling beetles loved it too so it was a race to beat them to use it up before they turned it all into powder, hahah.
Mulberry is one of my favorites, great score! As others have said the rounds that have any size to them are HEAVY.
I don't believe the Buckthorn we have in Arizona is the same species as what you have back east. The Buckthorn we have out here is a small shrub that wouldn't have anything to it worth burning. Short answer, no.
My half acre of woods behind my house is becoming very overgrown, as I have been grabbing dead stuff off my neighbor's property. I plan on seriously thinning my "woods" this Fall. Quite a bit of Buckthorn in the mix.
