U still have the limiters in there but I guess with that piece removed there is nothing to hit against? U will notice a good bit of power increase. Don't forget the outer cover to open it up some
I know they would come off but with the plate out there is nothing to "limit" against to it do sent matter? U gonna put the plate back in and cut the tabs off the caps or leave it be?
I put the plate back on, and left the caps off. I destroyed the one cap, originally. When the cover popped it off it made all so much easier to take off. So for now, I'm going to leave it as is.
Sorry u guys have so much trouble with them, I'm sure my next one will be that way now!! I am not trying to say how good I am or anything I just had no trouble with them. Another of our field foresters told me I can have his old 250 when I see him next so I bet I will pay on that one!
So have you made any adjustments to the carb? Sounds like it idles good, pretty lean on the high side but hard to tell since you are real short with the trigger. Give us one with the throttle pinned for 2-3 seconds and I can tell you more.
+1 sounds good. Just need to stay in the throttle a little longer to see if it starts 4 stroking as MM mentioned. It should 4 stroke at Wide Open Throttle with no load on it, and smooth out (2 stroke) at WOT with the bar in the wood.
Yes, watched your youtube movie and tried to mimic it. I'll do that tomorrow at some point. Yea, at one time, I must have tweaked too much on the low side. Killed it and and couldn't get it started again. Had to go back to original settings off bottom. Thanks.
For the record, not my video. But it's one of my favorite "how to" tune video. You'll get it lined out and be able to do a carb adjustment no problem in the future.
That's Brad Snelling, I'm pretty sure he knows how to tune a carb.... I like that video too, that's a big-azz saw and it makes it easy to hear what's going on.
Yea even with the way you modded the muffler its tough to hear the 4 stroke if your not use to it. My 390 is better like that bit still tough compared to the husky 372 or stihl 650!
I had one of the eight I've done that had that plate come out. No big deal, I just put it back in without the limits. Prob would have just left it out, but it was one of my few paid mm jobs. Wanted it to look pro. Was a non running 290 with just 6 tanks ran thru it. Carb clean and mm for $100. Not bad for a garage hack like myself.
Sounds OK but maybe lean but I have trouble on vids hearing the 4 stroke ESP with that mods its harder to hear to me.
Too lean. Hear how it screams and sounds nice and smooth? Richen it up until it starts to miss, that miss is 4 stroking. Once it is tuned right, it will 4 stroke at WOT with no load but will smooth out and 2 stroke when the chain is in wood. Also, make sure you warm up the saw before tuning/videoing.
